I guess I should just call it GAVIN

I will only say that we had a really WONDERFUL time with our daughter Korin her husband Brian and our grandson Gavin! I will just post a few pictures from our week. It felt like they had just arrived and they had to leave! I cried at both ends of the visit.

We did Exit Glacier with them and even Gavin  tried to do most of the hike, which is not that easy. We stayed most of the week in Stoney Creek down in Seward and we had great weather! Brian got to go our fishing one day, Gavin got to ride the Alaska railroad, we saw so many float planes and we all put our feet in the cold water of Resurrection Bay. It was just an awesome ( tho exhausting) week.

Our week in pictures

I guess I may have gone a little overboard taking pictures of Gavin! Love him so much and we have missed them all so much! It was a great week and a great way to end our time in Alaska! Next time I blog it will be Yukon, Alcan, Hyder and into the south 48!

Valdez and Kathy's visit to Alaska!

Hello again friends. It has been too long and so much has happened. First I didn't blog about Valdez and it is worth at least a mention with its lovely waterfalls, black rabbits and rich history about the earthquake and the oil spill. We had a great couple of days there. On our way out we stopped at Wrangell Saint Elias park for a short hike and it was just awesome!

On our way back toward Anchorage we stopped at a cute roadside campground , walked out on the bluff , saw Mat Su Glacier and saw many blueberries on low bushes that had all kinds of paths next to them! ( Note to self...get bear spray) Sophie was a bit nervous there as well. Well after diner I was just sitting watching TV or something and we felt the entire RV shake rattle and roll! I thought it could have been my washer off kilter, but I wasn't doing any wash. We went out to ask our neighbors if they had felt it and they did not feel it outside, but their son came out a few seconds later and reported the earthquake! It had happened down by MT Redoubt but we sure felt it where we were! A bit unsettling.

Well we went to Anchorage to wait for Kathy to come in. I had actually made a hotel reservation for her and I for the 31st and Dave was taking the rig down to Seward for the week. Well he left and there was a terrible accident on the Seward Highway which closed it for about 10-12 hours so he turned around , I cancelled my reservation  Dave turned around and we stayed in a town RV park in Anchorage to wait for Kathy!

It was so exciting to see Kathy and see her excitement in Alaska. Not only was it her first time to Alaska, it was her first time flying!

She was surprised that the sun had barely set when she got in at around midnight!. The next day Dave drove to Seward and Kathy and I went down in the truck so I could make all the stops I knew she would like, Potters Marsh, Beluga Point and Turnagin Pass. That is really a beautiful drive and Kathy took a ton of pictures.

We had a great week in Seward and even took a day to drive to Homer. The  strangest thing happened when we got past Anchor Point. We looked  down on to the spit and there was a really thick fog rolling in and out on the Bay. By the time we got to the spit it was a full fog. Kathy did a lot of shopping there and picture taking. We walked around a bit and went out to the docks and saw Bill who had taken us out on his boat earlier this summer!

Kathy did take a cruise out in resurrection bay and she loved it! We went to exit glacier, moose pass and lots of shopping in between down in Seward. We made Kathy put her foot in the water too so she could say she had done that! She got crab legs at Chinooks that were over a foot long and loved every bite! Alaskan King Crab! I of course had halibut again!

The last day she was here I drove her to the Harley Davidson store! I actually went inside! Now I can check that off my bucket list...oh wait it wasn't on my bucket list!

It was a wonderful week and hope she got a little taste of Alaska!

As we dropped her off at the airport our excitement was beyond the moon as we were also picking up Korin and Brian and GAVIN! More on that visit in a bit!
