Tonopah, Bishop and Death Valley

We have been staying at Joanne and Ricks to watch GB and Precious! Long morning walks in the desert peppered with some park walks and they seem happy.

Last week we drove to Bishop CA and there was a car show in town so we went to that , had some lunch and went to K-Mart. We got a new vacuum, a Kenmore and we love it! The ride was beautiful! Rolling hills to huge mountain passes. We have said all along that there is beauty in all of our travels.

Sunday and Monday it was cold and rainy and actually we saw some snow on some of the higher mountain tops.  3 wet dogs ...need I say more?

One day this week we went to the Tonopah Mining Park and did a little tour. There is silver in them hills! It was a learning experience and we enjoyed it. In the few times I have been to Tonopah I had never gone to this park.

One of our favorite things to do in town is to watch or listen for the cruiser. The speed limit in these small towns drops from 70 to 25 in a matter of a mile or two and the town must make good revenue on all the tickets they give out!

On Thursday we went to Death Valley National Park. It was very hot there but again such beauty. The ranger thought we would be interested in some of the wildlife and told us to be on the lookout for TARANTULAS !   WHY would he think I would be interested in that? I kept my eyes open but I never saw one...THANK GOD.

We had both been there before but it was so interesting and you can always find something you didn't see last time. I remembered the dates that are grown near there and were so delicious and I  found them in the general store. They are as sweet as I remember.

Dave has been puttering around the RV fixing things straightening things out and getting ready for a month of travel in November. But first we are going back to the northeast for a little family and friend time! It should be lots of fun.

In the mean time we are enjoying our time and loving the big sky, the sunrises and sunsets and endless views !

Sometimes a PICTURE is worth a thousand words!

Tonopah and Vegas and things that cannot be said aloud!

A new Blog entry dated 10/1/15

Sept 18 we got to Tonopah and got to see Joanne, Rick and the dogs! We stayed in a campground right down the road until Sunday when Joannes boss was nice enough to let us set up camp in her driveway! Thanks Marthe! She does not live in Tonopah at the present time so she has allowed us to park, plug in and use her shower when needed!

On Saturday Joanne and I attended a daylong Christian women’s retreat, which was very uplifting! I met a lot of Joanne’s friends and just had a really good day. Dave spent some time with Rick and we all had dinner together; it is wonderful to have this time with them! Sunday was spent setting up the RV in Marthe’s driveway and just having a nice day!

So Dave helped out (worked) at the Best Western building some cabinets for a special project! It was certainly great for him to keep himself busy and I just hung around.

Wednesday our 44th anniversary  we drove down to Vegas for a few days and stayed at Joanne and Ricks  house in Henderson! Dave and I went to the Barrett-Jackson car show and had a great time . OK so this must be written…..I have always known that this house is in the desert, therefore there are some “critters” but I have never seen one and I never wanted to know about the “critters” . but Thursday eve about 10 I got a look at my first one! EEEKKKKK , Hey Dave I think there is a “BUG” on the floor! Needless to say it was difficult to sleep!  So first thing on Friday Joanne was good enough to call the exterminator guy to come and spray. Now you realize I have not said the “word” and the guy knocks on the door and says and I quote. Hello, So where exactly are the scorpions?” WHAAAATTTTTT. Doesn’t he know I can’t talk about it? YIKES #ICANTEVENSAYTHEWORD#Difficulttoeventypeit! OK enough about that!

Joanne and Rick came down Friday night and we went out for dinner and then Saturday we drove them to the airport to fly to Hawaii! Spent the rest of Saturday down at the strip seeing the car show and gambling a bit. Left to come back to Tonopah on Sunday so that we can stay with the dogs at Joanne and Ricks house!

GB and Precious were happy to see us and the 3 dogs seem to be getting along! We have spent our days trying to get the RV in shape! Steam cleaned the carpets defrosted the fridge It looks great. In the mean time I found great deals on a flight back east! We will be going to Philly first on the 14th of October and then drive up to CT.

Well this pretty much gets me up to date! I know there are things I missed but will add them later and hope I can get the pictures added too! For some strange reason my phone is not  synching  with my computer!
