Hello and greetings from South Dakota! We have had such a busy last 10 days. Very spotty WIFI is making it difficult to keep up, plus many other things keeping us busy! I really have to admit that I should have listened to Kris and delayed our trip...we still had so many loose ends to clean up, but I think we are on our way to orginization.
We had several days early on when we did a lot of soul searching to determine if this plan was the "right thing" to do, but after some praying...YES I said praying we came to terms with our decision.
You think and plan for so long and sometimes the anticipation is so much better than actuality, but then we realized that this is actually our life on the road...and although at times it seemed mundane and boring, we realized we were not taking time out to enjoy it! AND sometimes, life is a bit mundane when you are just doing the normal routine things you do every single day! The only difference was that we were driving a long time then eating , organizing and going to bed!
Sooooo that being said we had to deal with a lot of rain, mud, wipers not working, wind, confusion and all the little things that seem to pop up when you least expect it!
PA, OH, IL,IN,IA and South Dakota! We got to Sioux Falls on Friday and were able to get licenses register truck and RV, plus register to vote! We stayed in Sioux Falls for the weekend enjoying some quiet time.
Sunday we drove a looooonnnnnngggggg way to get to the Badlands and stayed in a small campground not far from the park! We drove the loop in the truck, taking in all the natural beauty and animals ..prairie dogs, big horn sheep , turkeys and deer.
We left there this morning and went to Wall Drug, which is like the " south of the border" of the west! Signs let us know for hundreds of miles that it is "wallways" Christmas at wall drug. It was pretty funny!
We finished the day driving to Hermosa South Dakota and we we parked for the night in hopes the weather will clear tomorrow so we can see Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse! More adventures to follow as we drive through Wyoming and Utah! Can't wait to see Joanne and Rick and Charlie and Barbara! Partial family reunion!
We miss family and friends back home but have been keeping in touch !
Love to all
Hindsight is 20/20! You made the right decision! Glad you guys are having fun and seeing some wonderful sights. Slow down and enjoy the local scenery instead of traveling so quickly! You have 2 years to travel. Stop and take a breath, enjoy the local sights, and take a lot of pics Sue!! You don't want to deal with the wrath of Kath! Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteMiss you guys! Have a blast! I'm living vicariously through you!
