Some family time, some gambling time, some national parks!

We spent some time near Boise Idaho and got to visit Dave's uncle Paul and his wife Maureen. It was so nice to see Paul as we have not seen him in many years! We went to dinner, breakfast, and they made us a wonderful dinner as well. The two of them are retired and Maureen does a lot of crafts to keep busy. The one morning we were at the house at 8 am, and went on a walk with them .....hilarious! Maureen feeds the ducks and I do not mean one or two or even three but a LOT of ducks! We also saw the hype of Boise State football! EVERYONE wears the colors, they decorate the houses and cars and RV's. Thank goodness they won! (And I was wondering why everyone in town were "bronco" fans). Maureen and Paul showed us great hospitality while we were there and we hope it isn't years before we see them again!

Of note we also got to go to a whole foods and we saw a tremendous wind/ dust storm while in Idaho. Thank goodness we didn't lose our canopy!  Got a great recipe from Maureen for zucchini pizza too!

When we left Idaho we drove to Winemucca NV for 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. The town was a bit small but we went to the little harvest fair to see old tractors, tractor pulls, harvested vegetables and the usual fair food. WOW quite disappointing as they had very few vendors and not much to see! We actually said we missed the Brooklyn fair and the Big E !

The good thing about Winemucca is Dave won some money! We also met a younger couple that had quite a story about living in an RV! They have gone a lot of places and rarely used the interstates! This is fine but sometimes you just have to get somewhere quickly so don't rule out the Interstates!

We then continued down south to Reno area and stayed 5 nights. Nice area . Sophie was sick, I was sick but we did end up with a fun week there. We took a boat tour out on Lake Tahoe. It was such a beautiful area and we will go back. The boat tour was shortened due to boat mechanical issues! We could not go later in the day as we had left Sophie at the coach and it was a good hour back! Thank goodness for AC for her!  Another funny thing at that RV park was our neighbors RV was rocking like crazy! Of course you all know what I was thinking...they must have a washing machine that is off balance...but it was actually something wrong with their AC !

We back tracked a bit after Reno and went back to Oregon to see Crater Lake National park, AMAZING! Sophie got to go on a long walk  in the woods, we saw so many beautiful views of the lake, and got to once again experience some extreme wind conditions. We saw lots of smoke from a fire that had been burning over a month!  We feel blessed to have been able to go to Crater as one of the entrances had been closed earlier in the summer.

We decided then that we need to see more parks so we headed south again to Lee Vining, Ca to experience some of Yosemite ! A full day and a half gave us just a taste of the park! And one would think that there would not be so many people in September! Nope it was packed!. Awesome ride and views! Saw a few deer. And one large buck ran in front of us and scared us ! The first afternoon we were in the park it was 42 degrees!  Ahhhhh

We also visited Mono Lake and how awesome that was! And on Friday September 18 we took a beautiful ride through CA and NV and ended up in Tonopah, NV! But more on that another day. Now I have to figure out how to get my pictures on here again. I'm on my iPad not the big computer! I'll try......til the next time I write!

PS I forgot to mention the shoe tree near Reno, the auto museum , dunkin donuts , the very tame chipmunks but I will add pics in a few days! Now that we are settled for a few weeks I am anticipating more time!
