Living on the road

A few weeks ago when we were in a provincial park in Canada, a couple walked by our coach and I overheard them talking about it. " That's not camping " she said. I kept my cool and didn't say anything. What many people do not realize is, we are NOT camping! We are living in a motor home.
That being said, there are many things to do and see here in Alaska and we will see and do a lot of them, BUT, a lot of our days  are filled with normal things such as bills, cleaning, laundry and grocery shopping and other errands of life.

The way we do some of these things takes longer than it would take if we were in a house! I finally tackled using the washer/dryer combo in the coach, but wow that takes time and some patience as it is small. 2 pair of jeans and a few small items could take a morning..but I'm getting better about doing smaller washes so I don't have to spend a fortune at the laundromat!

Anyway we are in Homer Alaska and enjoying the wildlife, the air, and the water. We try to pick out one or two things a week to go to . Yesterday we took a long drive and went to Skilak Lake. We packed a lunch and took Sophie. It was very pretty and almost deserted! We saw a moose on our way back into Homer. We both agree its nice to be parked for a while instead of driving every day!

We may go on a halibut fishing trip or to Seldovia later in the week on the ferry. It's been cool, but the warm up is supposed to come later in the week. In the mean time we will just go about doing the normal things in life and take lots of walks down to the marina. It's a bustling fishing town and there is always something going on! Also the campground is filling up so lots more people to talk to and meet. The eagles of Homer have been hanging out with us all day today!

Retired and life on the road.....more to come.
